5 Things to Do Instead of Raking Your Lawn

5-things-better-than-raking-your-lawn.jpg

It’s fall, which means the leaves in your yard (and probably your neighbor’s yard too) are doing their thing…falling.

In other words, your lawn is probably crying out for a big rake-fest. Fall is also the time to cut your perennials, prune your shrubs and trees, and drag away all the dead tree branches and other debris that the fall storms bring your way.

Raking a big lawn can be fun when the leaves first start to gently drift down. However, when the avalanche starts, raking can get very old, very fast.

Here at Nature’s Elite Lawn & Landscape, we provide raking services as well as a more advanced Fall Cleanup package.

With that in mind, here are 5 better things you can be doing with your time, while we clean up your lawn in the fall:

1. Go on a hike, jog, walk

The days are cooling off, and the leaves are showing off their best colors. Get outdoors now and enjoy the crisp, cool air before the snow starts coming. Fall is the perfect time for a family hike, a walk with your spouse, or an outdoor jog that doesn’t require long underwear and a parka.

2. Football

Oh yeah. Fall is that time of year when perfection is a comfy recliner at home, a chilled beer, a couple of your closest friends, and Boise State on the television. It’s football season baby, and you don’t have to miss a second of it on Saturday or Sunday. Watch every tackle, every Hail Mary, and every illegal Boogey in the end zone.

3. Spend Time With Your Family

Every day is a good day to visit your parents, your siblings, your aunts, and uncles, or your cousins. As the days grow shorter, invite your loved ones over for a cozy dinner or make some deviled eggs and drive over for a house call. Light up the nights with share stories of the past and laughter. Time spent with your family warms the heart and the soul!

4. Gear up for winter

George R. R. Martin isn’t the only one who knows that Winter Is Coming. Get a head start on gathering all your winter gear so you don’t have to risk snowdrifts and black ice to visit your local Walmart or Target when supplies run low. Now is the time to stock up on long underwear, lots of canned goods, a new coat, mittens, a cozy new quilt, holiday decorations…and probably more long underwear.

5.Game night with friends

Before winter turns every car trip into an arctic adventure, get in some time with your neighbors, co-workers, and friends by hosting game night. Beer, wine, appetizers, and lots of enthusiasm are all you need to make game night a hit. Whether you love to play Pictionary, Apples to Apples, Trivial Pursuit, Jenga, or something else, your house will be filled with laughter and fun.

Any of these options are way better than spending your time and the fading days of fall raking your lawn and prepping it for winter. Luckily, that’s exactly what we do. At Nature’s Elite Lawn & Landscape, we are your local lawn and tree care experts.
